3 Day Weekend Itinerary for Maui

Island hopping, extending your trip into a long layover, or just simply only have a couple days on Maui?

Don’t sweat it— there is a ton you can pack in even in just a short amount of time!

Maui is a small island, sure— but there is plenty to discover! See below for what we recommend.

P.S. Have more time? Check out our 1 week itinerary guide for Maui.

DAY ONE

Depending on what time you arrive to Maui and what your travel time has been like, your plans may differ.

If you have a full day: Check out the beaches on the Northshore. Paia town is a charming place with restaurants, boutique shops, and more. Catch turtles basking at Ho’okipa Beach or relax at Baldwin Beach nearby.

If you don’t: Here are some things to do in the area, including Iao Valley State Monument and wandering the murals and shops around North Market Street, and here you can find some places to eat and drink nearby.

Either way, for the evening: Drive up to Haleakalā, a dormant volcano, for the most beautiful sunset of your life! No prior reservations need to be made- just be sure to bring warm clothes!

DAY TWO

After some rest, you should be ready to hit the ground running for Road to Hana! This is an absolute must while on island. Get ready for a full day of adventuring— over 600 curves of countless waterfalls, striking beaches, rainbow eucalyptus trees and more!

Leave early, pack snacks, and make sure to fill up gas before leaving Paia.

* Pro Tip: Make sure to bring your pass from Haleakalā yesterday if you plan on doing any hiking on the Pipiwai Trail or in Haleakalā National Park in general.

DAY THREE

You can start your morning with our free chocolate chip pancakes and head west to visit some of the following spots:

  • Stroll the shops in Paia

  • Black Rock Beach or Cliffhouse for cliff jumping

  • Honolula Bay (great snorkeling spot!)

Try out a surf lesson and grab a lunch at Paia Fish Markert!

From there, grab some shave ice (if your stomach allows!)

What a sweet way to end a wonderful three days!

We can’t wait to have you experience Maui for yourself!
