We are currently hiring for the following positions:

Housekeeping Manager

We are looking for an experienced Housekeeping Manager with an excellent track record of successfully leading a team to sustained high levels of performance and service. As this position is for a HOSTEL Housekeeping Manager, if having no previous hostel work experience, the manager must be able to pivot into the hosteling world and its culture. 

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the hostel. Priority focus will be to lead, inspire and supervise every aspect of the hostel’s cleaning operations. Duties include actively cleaning all areas of the facility, training new team members, maintaining supplies, doing laundry, folding linens and reporting to management. While linen service is outsourced to a third party company, the Housekeeping Manager will keep track of incoming and outgoing laundry inventory. 

The leader we are looking for must be self-motivated, experienced, extremely detail oriented, proactive, and capable of holding themself and team members accountable to the highest standards possible. The cleanliness of the hostel is critical to the success of our business and the Housekeeping Manager should be excited to play a key role as we continue to develop the Howzit Hostels brand on our way to become the leading hostel chain in the Hawaiian islands.

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Maui

Compensation:

  • Base Salary

  • Housing in a shared 2-bdrm apartment provided, but not required.

Requirements:

  • Min 1 year Housekeeping Management work experience

  • Experience in housekeeping leadership and training

  • USA work permit

  • English Fluency (additional languages a plus)

Guest Experience Supervisor

We are looking to hire a recent college graduate eager to start or elevate their career in hospitality. The Guest Experience Supervisor position will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to working reception, hosting social events, leading guided tours and excursions, and otherwise being an ambassador of fun and aloha! 

Interacting personally with guests, the Guest Experience Supervisor will serve as the face of Howzit Hostels and have a direct impact on the reputation of the brand. Candidates should have a positive attitude, an aptitude for leadership, be technologically-proficient, proactive, well-rounded, and have the desire to immerse themselves in all aspects of the business. While relevant hospitality experience is valuable, most importantly we are seeking someone that has the potential and motivation to grow professionally. 

As we continue to develop the business to become the leading hostel chain in the Hawaiian Islands, team members that demonstrate sound business acumen will have ample opportunity for promotion within the company.

 General Manager for Howzit Hostels - Wailuku

Howzit Hostels recently purchased the Northshore Hostel in Wailuku and is currently performing a complete overhaul and re-brand of the business. We are looking for an experienced Hospitality Manager with an excellent track record of successfully leading a team to sustained high levels of performance and service. As this position is for a HOSTEL General Manager, if having no previous hostel work experience, the manager must be able to pivot into the hosteling world and its culture. The GM will oversee the daily operations of our top rated Maui hostel as it continues its brand development to become the leading hostel chain in the Hawaiian Islands. Priority focus will be to lead, inspire and supervise every aspect of the hostel’s team and operations to advance the development and success of the business. The leader we are looking for must be a motivated, experienced, technologically-proficient, proactive, well-rounded, and charismatic individual with the desire to immerse themselves in all aspects of the business.

The GM will define the standards of, motivate, follow-up on, and report on the following aspects of the hostel:

  • Human Resources

  • Standard Operating Procedures

  • Guest Experiences

  • Online Reputation Scores

  • Cleanliness

  • Safety

  • Maintenance

  • Marketing

  • Local collaborations

  • Sales Strategies

  • Profitability

The GM will be responsible for the success and evolution of the hostel. They should be able to take care of most things without direction or supervision but will have direct support of the owners for more complex issues related to the hostel’s development.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary + Bonus Plan after 6 months of employment

  • Private off-site housing available but not required

  • Experience in recruitment, supervision and training

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
