Maui Activities After Sunset

The fun doesn’t have to end when the sun does!

Although Maui is known for its beaches and hiking, read on for what adventures await you after sunset:

Haleakalā National Park

Easily on our must-do on Maui list is to enjoy breathtaking night skies from this volcano summit. You’ll be above the clouds at 10,000 feet- perfect for watching the sunset and stargazing!

Drum Circle

There is always an open invitation to these beach parties which feature locals playing drums, fire dancers, and more! Bring your volleyball or beach chair and let the night take you wherever the wind blows! Friday nights in Paia at Baldwin Beach and Sunday night in Kihei at Po’Olenalena Beach.

Night Markets & Food Trucks

Trust us when we say that the food truck parks are where it’s at! Solid choices include South Maui Gardens in Kihei, Sunday Night Market in Kahului, First Fridays festivals in Wailuku, and more!

Attend a Luau

A trip to the islands would be incomplete without this special Hawaiian celebration, including traditional music, mouthwatering local food, and cultural performances.

Craft Drinks & Nightlife

Regardless of where you find yourself on the island, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Here are our personal favorites:

Wailuku- Esters Fair Prospect for intimate atmosphere & the best craft cocktails

Paia- Belle Surf for coffee in the morning, with evening cocktails & DJ nights

Kihei- Life’s a Beach for drink specials and karaoke multiple nights per week. We also recommend checking out Maui Brewing Co. in their Kihei and Kaanapali locations

Upcountry- Mahalo Aleworks for delicious beer & an awesome view of the island

Cruise into Sunset

With a variety of catamarans, sailboats, and cruises to choose from, we can’t recommend a sunset cruise enough! Enjoy dinner onboard and sip handcrafted cocktails as you watch the sun slip below the horizon and admire our beautiful island from the water (the best vantage point!). Most tours will leave from either Maalaea or Kaanapali harbors, and some even offer live music to enjoy!

Events at the MACC

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center ( MACC for short) is a performing arts venue complete with both indoor and outdoor stages and is just two miles from our Maui hostel location! The MACC features everything from live concerts and comedy shows to craft markets and beer festivals. The MACC also has art galleries and a dance studio!

We can’t wait to have you experience Maui for yourself!
