Just three miles up the road is the mouth of the lush Iao Valley State Park, one of Wailuku’s most important gems! Admire native plants and learn more about the battle that shaped Maui’s history on an easy 0.6-mile paved loop leading to a scenic lookout point for the iconic Iao Needle.

Hike deeper into the valley as we dip into natural pools of refreshing water to cool off and relax along the flowing stream.

And finally, stroll through the breathtaking Kepaniwai Park & Heritage Gardens to see the influence of Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Portuguese, and Chinese cultures.

For only $5 entry fee per person, you’ll witness the cultural and spiritual significance of one of Maui’s awe-inspiring mountainous views.
